Munich. New supercars, a strong field of 25 cars from eight different marques, races on five current/ex-Formula 1 circuits, a new tyre partner and a new live TV partner. The ADAC GT Masters will really step on the gas once again in the 2015 season. Supercars from eight manufacturers will commence their fight for the title in the Super Sports Car League as the season kicks off in the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (April 24th-26th). Newcomers Bentley Continental and Nissan GT-R will take on established and well-known opponents – Audi R8, BMW Z4, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette Z06.R, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Porsche 911. For the first time, ADAC GT Masters supercars will line up on tyres provided by new exclusive tyre partner Pirelli in 2015. All races will be broadcast live and in full length by new live TV partner SPORT1.
“A great field with new super sports cars, an attractive calendar and Pirelli as new tyre partner will ensure that the ADAC GT Masters becomes a highlight of the 2015 motor racing season,” said ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk on Wednesday during a media day at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben where the field was introduced. “New teams and new drivers show that the ADAC GT Masters, now in its ninth season, is still attractive and that the Super Sports Car League is continuing to evolve.”
“This year, fans can look forward to seeing more teams and a greater diversity of marques at the eight ADAC GT Masters events,” said Lars Soutschka, ADAC Director Motorsport and Classic. “Joined by our new live TV partner SPORT1, we intend to broadcast all 16 races live on television. This will now be the sixth season that we have done so. The ADAC GT Masters with its extensive support programme and the new ADAC Formula 4 in particular will delight fans and make headlines this year by giving us plenty of exciting motor racing.”
Supercars from eight different marques ensure brand diversity
A total of 15 teams have registered 25 supercars, representing eight marques for all the races of the 2015 season. Guest starters will still join the field at certain events. The Bentley Continental, of which HTP Motorsport are fielding two examples, is new to the line-up. MRS GT-Racing will deploy the two Nissan GT-Rs that are so familiar from previous years but have now been updated.
Bentley and Nissan will be chasing start number 1 which in the 2015 season will be displayed by one of the three Audi R8s fielded by C Abt Racing, managed by former ADAC GT Masters champion Christian Abt. There are a total of seven Audi R8s in the field, and the R8 is the car that features most in the GT Masters. kfzteile24 MS Racing will utilise two of the mid-engine sports cars, while YACO Racing and the newcomers by Dupré Engineering Motorsports will each put one Audi on the grid.
Callaway Competition also have the title in their sights. The longest-serving team in the series will attack with two Corvette Z06.Rs. RWT Racing Team will deploy another Corvette for the second season in a row. The Corvette is not the only American muscle car in the field. Reiter Engineering are aiming to cause a splash again with the mighty Chevrolet Camaro that impressed so much during the 2014 season, securing a number of podium finishes.
Porsche is represented by Schütz Motorsport and TONINO Team Herberth. Both teams have entered two 911s. Two teams are in this year’s line-up with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Team Zakspeed will race two gullwings, while new team HP Racing managed by Hari Proczyk will deploy one SLS AMG. Schubert Motorsport have entered two BMW Z4s in the ADAC GT Masters. Senkyr Motorsport from the Czech Republic join the ADAC GT Masters line-up for the first time, running the compact V8 BMW.
Familiar commentators on SPORT1
All 16 races of the 2015 season will be broadcast live and in full length by new live TV partner SPORT1. Viewers will see a new face but hear familiar voices. Julia Josten will present the races this year. Jan Stecker, who has commentated on all ADAC GT Masters races broadcast live on TV so far will act as race commentator. Stecker will be joined by pundit Patrick Simon, who is already familiar to TV audiences from previous years. TV broadcasts will usually begin at 1 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Support programme delivers non-stop racing action
The support programme at the eight ADAC GT Masters events will be more attractive and comprehensive than ever before. Eleven more race series will make for an interesting and varied programme, as they run alongside the ADAC GT Masters and the new ADAC Formula 4 which will line up seven times together with the Super Sports Car League. At the eight events in Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, series that include FIA Formula 3 Championship, DTC DMSB/ADAC Procar, the GT4 Euro Series, the Special Touring Car Trophy (STT), Renault Clio Cup Central Europe and Formula Renault 2.0 NEC will provide a full programme of events on Saturdays and Sundays from early morning until late.
