- Second season for Rahel Frey in Super Sports Car League
- Swiss driver in Audi R8 prepared by YACO Racing
- Philip Geipel to partner ex-DTM driver
Rahel Frey (28 CH) will line up in an Audi R8 for her second season in the ADAC GT Masters. Commencing with the season opener at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (April 25th-27th), the former DTM driver will partner Philip Geipel (27, Germany), driving for YACO Racing in the Super Sports Car League. Team Principal at YACO Racing Uwe Geipel told us: “We are pleased that Rahel Frey will be lining up for our team this year. She was our preferred candidate for our second season with the Audi R8 in the ADAC GT Masters and it’s terrific that it’s all worked out.”
Rahel Frey: “I’m looking forward to working with YACO Racing. The first series of testing together is still ahead of us, but I already know the crew quite well from last year in the ADAC GT Masters. YACO Racing are a small, ambitious team and I shall certainly feel very much at home with them. I expect that this year’s ADAC GT Masters season will again be exciting and I look forward to the challenge with YACO Racing. Last year, my start in the ADAC GT Masters was not confirmed until just a few days before the start of the season. Now, we have a little more time in the run-up to the first race and we can be really well prepared for the Oschersleben season opener.”
Philip Geipel is likewise looking forward to working with the Audi works driver: “Rahel Frey is the perfect addition to our team. She knows the Audi R8 like the back of her hand and has an enormous wealth of experience from her time in the DTM and from competing in international sports car races. The fans are the team’s number one priority and with Rachel, we not have only a very fast racing car driver but someone who is very popular as well. We would also wish to express our thanks to Audi, who have made it possible for Rahel to start with us.”
