- RWT Racing prepare for two guest entries in ADAC GT Masters
- Gerd Beisel and Sven Barth lining up in Corvette
- Five Corvettes to challenge at Sachsenring and at Nürburgring
The orchestra of V8 engines in the ADAC GT Masters will be augmented by a further player at
the Sachsenring (7th/8th June) when RWT Racing bring along their Callaway Corvette Z06.
Sharing the cockpit of the American muscle car at the rollercoaster circuit in Saxony will be Gerd
Beisel (55) from Eberbach near Heilbronn and Sven Barth (32) from Weinheim.
"We're looking forward to this challenge and are confident that our Corvette will be highly
competitive," says Gerd Beisel, team boss and driver at RWT Racing. Since last year, the
Eberbach-based outfit has entered its Corvette in various race series and is now taking the next
logical step by making two guest appearances in the ADAC GT Masters. In addition to the race at
the Sachsenring, RWT Racing are also planning to contest the Nürburgring weekend. With the
four Corvettes already being sent into action by Callaway Competition in the ADAC GT Masters at
the Sachsenring, this now means that there will be five of the legendary American sports car
lining up on the grid.
Before trying their hand with the Callaway Corvette, both Beisel and Barth enjoyed success on
the track in open-top sports car prototypes. Gerd Beisel: "After several successful seasons in the
Sports Car Challenge, we just wanted to try something new. I think we have coped well with the
switch to this 'car with a roof'." In the Sachsenring and the Nürburgring, Beisel and Barth have
opted for two challenging racetracks to make their debut. "We think both circuits have their own
special idiosyncrasies and are certainly amongst the most attractive venues in Germany," added
team boss Gerd Beisel. "We would like to thank the sponsors and partners of RWT Racing,
without whom this challenge would not have been possible." Sven Barth is also looking forward
to the two forthcoming appearances in the ADAC GT Masters: "Maybe we can even cause an
upset. I think anything is possible with the Corvette."
The 2013 ADAC GT Masters will once again be contested over 16 rounds on eight race
weekends throughout the year. All 16 races of the ADAC GT Masters will be shown on free-to-air
TV station kabel eins. The live broadcasts to audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
commence at 12 noon on both the Saturday and the Sunday. The Super Sports Car League is
being hosted by two new venues this time: the Formula 1 circuit at Spa-Francorchamps and the
Slovakia Ring in Slovakia.
Tickets for all ADAC GT Masters races start at €20 and can be purchased online at
