- Successful German team to field two BMW Z4s
- Vita4One will join ADAC GT Masters line-up for first time
- Buurman/Matzke and Green/Giesler to share the cockpits in the two BMWs
A successful BMW team will beef up the ADAC GT Masters field as the Super Sports Car League premieres in Spa-Francorchamps (10th-12th May). Vita4One Racing, one of the most successful teams in European GT racing, will deploy two BMW Z4s at the second ADAC GT Masters race weekend. 'Flying Dutchman' Yelmer Buurman (26) and two-time ADAC GT Masters race winner Martin Matzke (23, Czech Republic), plus the two young drivers Paul Green (20, Germany) and Jonas Giesler (18, Germany) will drive the Z4s.
"We always wanted to compete in the ADAC GT Masters and currently have a break in our main programme until June. We've had requests from drivers and Spa-Francorchamps is just around the corner from our team base in Olpe," said Michael Bartels, team manager at Vita4One Racing, explaining the background behind their intention to race in the ADAC GT Masters.
FIA GT1 world champion Bartels not expecting an easy weekend
The Spa-Francorchamps Formula 1 circuit is Vita4One's 'front room', and, under the name Vitaphone Racing, the team won the 24-Hours of Spa-Francorchamps three times between 2005 and 2008. Vita4One has chosen four drivers with a mix of speed and young talent for their debut in the ADAC GT Masters at Spa. Michael Bartels: "I am delighted that Yelmer Buurman is back in our team. We enjoyed a lot of success with him last year in various series. Jonas Giesler and Paul Green are two juniors with whom we have already tested in the winter, and they will now be competing in a race with us for the first time."
"We see the weekend as a welcome opportunity to gain experience in the ADAC GT Masters. I am looking forward to the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. But it certainly will not be an easy weekend for us, because the series is very competitive and the YOKOHAMA tyres will be new to us. Two strong and experienced BMW teams are already in the ADAC GT Masters line-up, and we will use them to benchmark our performance on the weekend. I hope that we can do well in the two races in Spa and garner a lot of experience," added Bartels.
