Munich. The stage is set for a nerve-racking finale in the ADAC GT Masters. Three duos will battle it out for the Drivers' Championship at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. The winners of the "Road to DTM", Team Championship and Silver Cup will also be determined on the final weekend of the season. The programme features two sprints, at 15:05 on Saturday and 14:30 on Sunday. All the race action will be shown live on Joyn, ServusTV On and youtube.com/ADACMotorsports, with highlights on TV station Sport1. There will also be a highlight for all fans at the circuit: on Saturday evening, Dick Brave and his band will rock the "DTM Powerstage presented by Pirelli" and get the crowd in the mood with his modern rock 'n' roll. Tickets for the grand finale at the DTM weekend start at € 49 and are available at dtm.com.
Titles up for grabs in all four competitions at the finale in Hockenheim
The grand finale will take place in Hockenheim for the 14th time in the history of the ADAC GT Masters. A thrilling battle for all the titles once again awaits fans. With 25 points on offer for a win, and three for a pole position, a total of 56 points are up for grabs over the course of the two race days. Tim Zimmermann (30/Langenargen) and Leyton Fourie (21/ZAF/both FK Performance Motorsport) in a BMW M4 GT3 Evo hold a five-point lead over the Lamborghini duo of Felix Hirsiger (28/CHE) and Finn Zulauf (22/Königstein im Taunus/both Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport) at the top of both the Drivers' Championship and the Silver Cup. In third place, 48 points off the lead, are Niklas Kalus (21/Duisburg) and Kiano Blum (19/AUT/both Haupt Racing Team) in a Ford Mustang GT3. "The circuit should really suit our Lamborghini. We may not be so strong on the straights, but we are on the brakes and in medium-speed corners. I think we have a good chance of competing with the BMW. There are sure to be a few exciting moments for the fans to enjoy in the Parabolica and Spitzkehre hairpin during the races," says Zulauf, for whom Hockenheim is a home event.
The duel unfolding in the "Road to DTM" is no less exciting. Fourie (214 points) and Zulauf (207) will battle it out for victory in this important junior competition, with the entry fee for next year's DTM season at stake. The two title contenders have been really evenly matched over the course of the season, although Fourie has picked up three percent more points in races, while Zulauf has been slightly stronger in qualifying. One thing is particularly worth mentioning: neither of the two rivals has received any penalty points for infringements on the track. "Last year, I narrowly missed out, so winning the "Road to DTM" now would be a small consolation," Fourie admits.
The Team Championship is a four-way battle between BMW, Ford, Lamborghini and Porsche. FK Performance Motorsport holds a significant lead on 284 points. Defending champions Haupt Racing Team are 46 points off the lead in second place. A further five points back is Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport in third. Razoon - more than Racing also has a mathematical chance of winning the title, but trail by 71 points and need many things to go in their favour. As it stands, it is match point for FK Performance Motorsport. Should they drop no more than one point to their rivals in Saturday's race, or even extend their lead, they will be crowned champions with a race still to come.
Guest starter Fullinracing Academy brings a second Audi to the ADAC GT Masters
There will be another new addition to the ADAC GT Masters in Hockenheim. The Fullinracing Academy team will run an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2 at the season finale. Alternating at the wheel will be Petr Fulin (49/CZE) and Gerhard Tweraser (37/AUT). The team made a guest appearance in ADAC TCR Germany in the Czech city of Most in 2018. Back then, Fulin won one of the races. “The ADAC GT Masters is one of the most renowned GT racing series in Europe. For us, it is a fantastic opportunity to prove ourselves in this high standard of competition," says team manager Tadeáš Martínek.
Hockenheim is the perfect opportunity for the team to make a guest start. Fulin and the entire team know the circuit very well, and are hoping to use the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the ADAC's GT3 series, and to understand the exact processes involved. Driver Tweraser started for another team at the Nürburgring earlier this season, and has contested 38 races in total in the series. "If everything goes well, we would obviously be delighted to consider more outings in the future," says Martínek. "We are very much looking forward to Hockenheim and being part of the ADAC GT Masters weekend."
