Munich. Top drivers, strong teams and renowned manufacturers – the stage is set for an exciting and spectacular new season in the ADAC GT Masters. A total of 46 drivers are set to line up in 23 super sports cars from Audi, BMW, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche, with a total of seven rounds in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. 13 teams will battle it out for the title, including six newcomers. Eleven countries will be represented by the 46 high-class drivers, of whom roughly 20 are works drivers or can call on experience from Formula 1, WEC and IMSA. Seven former champions will be in pursuit of another title. The German GT Championship presented its programme on Monday evening in Cologne, in front of a host of media representatives and invited guests. The new ADAC GT Masters season gets underway from 22nd to 24th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Tickets start at € 28 and are available online at adac.de/motorsport. ADAC members receive a 10% discount when purchasing online in advance, while admission is free for under 16s.
The ADAC GT Masters is intensifying its commitment to sustainability in the 2022 season. For the first time, season 16 of the ADAC GT Masters will use the innovative new fuel “Shell Blue Gasoline 98 GT Masters”, which is made of roughly 50 percent renewable components and has been developed by Shell exclusively for the German GT Championship. The “Bottle-Free Zone” project to reduce plastic waste, which was launched last year in cooperation with BWT, is to be extended in 2022. This season, spectators can also actively contribute towards the reduction of plastic waste by using water dispensers provided by BWT.
RTL Deutschland’s station NITRO remains exclusive TV partner of the series. This year, all the races will start at the standard time of 13:00. NITRO will present live coverage of the races on free TV from 12:30. The expert on-air team of Eve Scheer, Anna Nentwig, Dirk Adorf and Nico Menzel remains unchanged. Spectators can also watch the exciting races live, and subsequently on demand, on RTL+, Germany’s leading streaming platform. Qualifying sessions are shown on
sport.de and
adac.de/motorsport.
Dr. Gerd Ennser, ADAC Sport President: “The ADAC GT Masters enters its 16th season with another high-class field, consisting of many well-known drivers, teams and sports car manufacturers. This underlines just how strong and attractive the German GT Championship is. With the innovative new fuel and the continuation of our cooperation with BWT, we are taking on a pioneering role as we strive for greater sustainability. The successful cooperation with our TV partner NITRO is now in its second season. Last year, more viewers than ever followed the series on RTL Deutschland channels. The live broadcasts and cooperation with RTL Deutschland will continue to establish the reputation of the ADAC GT Masters as one of the best GT series in the world.”
