- Former Formula 1 drivers, Lamborghini works drivers and works juniors start for Emil Frey
- Works-supported Swiss team enters the fray with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO
Munich. Another newcomer in the ADAC GT Masters: Emil Frey Racing lines up in the German GT Championship for the first time this season. The Swiss team aims to hit the ground running with no fewer than three Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO when it makes its debut in the series. The high-quality driver line-up is spearheaded by Lamborghini works drivers Albert Costa (31/E) and Franck Perera (37/F). Former Formula 1 driver Jack Aitken (26, UK) and some talented youngsters complete the squad of drivers at Emil Frey Racing, which receives works support from Lamborghini. Two of the three cars will bear the start numbers 19 and 63, representing the year in which Lamborghini was founded. The new ADAC GT Masters season gets underway from 22nd to 24th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. All the races will be broadcast live by TV station NITRO from 12:30 on each Saturday and Sunday.
Sharing the cockpit of the number 63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO are works drivers Albert Costa und Jack Aitken. While Spaniard Costa already has ADAC GT Masters experience, Aitken will be making his debut. The Brit has enjoyed success in Formula 2 in the past and contested the 2020 Sakhir GP in Bahrain for Williams. Leading the charge in the number 19 car is works driver Franck Perera, who won the Sunday race in Hockenheim in the 2021 ADAC GT Masters. His team-mate and Lamborghini Junior, Arthur Rougier (21/F), will benefit from his experience. Sharing the driving duties in the car bearing the number 14 – team principal Lorenz Frey-Hilti’s lucky number – will be a young duo. Despite his young age, Mick Wishofer (22/A) already has one victory in the 2020 ADAC GT Masters to his name. His partner Konsta Lappalainen (20/FIN) is a complete newcomer to the German GT Championship. Like Wishofer, the Finn took his first steps in ADAC Formula 4.
Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsport Lamborghini: “We are really looking forward to supporting Emil Frey Racing in the coming season, and are very motivated. Emil Frey Racing is an experienced and successful team, and I am certain that, with the support of the Lamborghini works drivers and the GT3 Juniors, they will be able to compete at the front of the field in the ADAC GT Masters.”
Team principal Lorenz Frey-Hilti: “We have a good mix of Lamborghini works drivers, experienced team drivers and talented youngsters this year. With these impressive drivers and a fully-motivated team, Emil Frey Racing has laid the foundations for a successful season.”
