Inaugural visit
Newly-elected ADAC Sport President, Dr. Hans-Gerd Ennser, visited the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben on Sunday. The 61-year-old lawyer was elected during the general meeting of ADAC e. V., which was held online on Saturday. The previous Sport President, Hermann Tomczyk, stood down after six years in office. Ennser and Tomczyk travelled to the season-opener with ADAC Board Member Lars Soutschka immediately after the election.
Award
Motorsport Arena Oschersleben honoured the accomplishments of former ADAC Sport President, Hermann Tomczyk, with a stone in front of the Motorsport Arena hotel. The “Walk of Fame” honours people who have distinguished themselves through their services to motorsport. Ralph Bohnhorst, Managing Director of Motorsport Arena, and Hermann Tomczyk unveiled the stone on Sunday morning.
Fleeting visit
Stéphane Ratel, founder and CEO of the SRO Motorsports Group, also visited the opening weekend in Oschersleben. The ADAC has worked closely with the SRO for many years. When classifying cars in both the ADAC GT Masters and ADAC GT4 Germany, the ADAC employs recognised SRO systems, which incorporate data from many GT series in Europe, North America and Asia.
Successful winter sports athlete
Seven-time skeleton world champion Tina Hermann, an athlete from the Club of Champions of ADAC GT Masters partner herrenausstatter.de, was also in Oschersleben. On Saturday, the 29-year-old gave the field in the German GT Championship the command to “Start your engines”.
Loyal partners, new look
The Official Cars, provided by Audi Sport and in the pink design of series partner BWT for the first time, caught the eye in Oschersleben. Lutz Hübner, CMO of the BWT Group, symbolically presented ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss and Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing, with a BWT water dispenser. Audi Sport is now in its tenth year as a partner of the ADAC GT Masters and this season is providing three Audi R8 V10 Plus as safety cars and lead car, as well as two Audi A6 Avant 50 TDI, which are used by race control.
BWT and ADAC GT Masters: working together for Africa
Laps for a good cause: with the new ADAC Race Lap Award, BWT and the ADAC GT Masters are supporting the b.waterMISSION project. Four euros will be donated for every race lap completed in the ADAC GT Masters. This money will be used to build wells in Gambia and Tanzania. The goal: to allow local people access to clean drinking water.
