- 14 races at seven circuits in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands
- NITRO to broadcast all the races in 2022 live and on free-to-air television
- New highlight: Family & Friends Festival at the DEKRA Lausitzring
Munich. The ADAC GT Masters will line up at a strong mix of seven attractive circuits in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands in 2022, and will also feature a new highlight. Next year’s calendar is based on stability: the 16th season of the series will, as has become tradition, kick off at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from 21st to 24th April. An exciting new feature is the Family & Friends Festival at the Lausitzring in August. The ADAC GT Masters is providing early planning certainty – not only through next year’s calendar, but also the television package for 2022: media group RTL will broadcast all 14 races live and in full on their free-to-air TV station NITRO. Next year’s entertaining support programme will again include ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC TCR Germany and ADAC Formula 4, while the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will also feature on the same bill as the ADAC GT Masters on six occasions.
“Stability and continuity for participants and fans were given high priority when planning the dates for the 2022 season, after 18 months of uncertainty,” says ADAC Sport President Dr. Gerd Ennser. “The heart of the internationally popular GT series beats in Germany, which is why the series will line up at five German racetracks next year. The attractive calendar will also feature races at two popular Formula 1 and MotoGP circuits in neighbouring Austria and the Netherlands. One stand-out event will be the Family & Friends Festival at the Lausitzring.”
A total of 14 races are scheduled for 2022. In keeping with tradition, the season kicks off at the end of April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (22nd to 24th April). Four weeks later, the high-speed Red Bull Ring (20th to 22nd May), which is also a venue for Formula 1 and MotoGP, hosts round two in the Austrian Alps. At the end of June, the action moves to the thrilling Formula 1 circuit in Zandvoort (24th 26th June) with its spectacular banked corners. Then, at the start of August, the season reaches its halfway point on the sprint circuit at the Nürburgring (5th to 7th August). The new Family & Friends Festival, organised by ADAC and DEKRA, makes its debut at the Lausitzring from 19th to 21st August. An entertaining mix of themed areas, entertainment and motorsport await visitors at the 540-hectare site at the racetrack. The penultimate race weekend takes place at the challenging Sachsenring (23rd to 25th September) near Chemnitz – an annual venue for the stars of MotoGP. Finally, the Motodrom of the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (21st to 23rd October) hosts the title showdown.
When putting together the calendar for the 2022 season, ADAC worked closely with the SRO Motorsport Group to avoid scheduling clashes with the Intercontinental GT Challenge, GT World Challenge Europe and GT4 European Series. This allows the many top international teams and professional drivers in the ADAC GT Masters to also compete on the European stage. The prestigious endurance classics in Le Mans, at the Nürburgring and in Spa were also taken into account when planning the calendar.
