- Successful partnership continues in 2021
- Audi R8 remains the ADAC Masters Safety Car and Leading Car for the coming season
Munich. Audi Sport is celebrating a special anniversary in the ADAC GT Masters: This year marks Audi Sport’s tenth season as Official Car Partner of the ADAC GT Masters. Audi Sport will continue as Official Car Partner in the German GT Championship – a role that includes providing the Safety Car and Leading Car, behind which the field of more than 30 super sports cars will assemble for the flying start. The 2021 season of the ADAC GT Masters gets underway from 14th to 16th May at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. All races are broadcast live and in full on free-to-air TV station NITRO.
The partnership sees Audi Sport provide three R8 for use as the Safety Car and Leading Car, as well as additional cars used by race control for such purposes as track inspections. Audi Sport also supplies the ADAC GT Masters with an R8 LMS show car for joint promotional activities. As a symbol of the partnership, the Audi Sport logo features prominently at the racetracks – and thus also on the coverage provided by TV partner NITRO.
“With the GT Masters, ADAC is setting standards, in Europe and beyond, in terms of quality and customer orientation, as well as the sheer size of the field,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. “The upgrade to the status of International German GT Championship underlines the success of the racing series. We are very happy to have been involved in this professional environment as a partner for many years, and are thus continuing our cooperation this year.”
On continuing the successful partnership, ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss says: “I am pleased that we have extended the partnership with Audi Sport. This is good news and shows that we can rely on our long-term partners, even in these challenging times. Audi has supported us at race weekends for a full decade, making it one of our most loyal partners.”
Most successful brand in the series
Audi race cars have lined up in the ADAC GT Masters since 2009. In recent years, the brand has become the most successful manufacturer in the series, with 44 race wins, four Driver and five Team titles to its name. Audi customer racing cars are also run in ADAC GT4 Germany and ADAC TCR Germany.
