- Fifth season for Rietberg-based outfit in ADAC GT Masters
- Maximilian Hackländer and Nikolaj Rogivue confirmed as first driver pairing
Munich: Aust Motorsport will stick with the Audi brand in the forthcoming ADAC GT Masters season. As in previous years, the team from Rietberg near Paderborn will be fielding two R8 LMSs. Maximilian Hackländer (29, GER) and Nikolaj Rogivue (23, CH) have already been confirmed as drivers for the first of the two cars. The Super Sports Car League season opener will be hosted by Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of 24th - 26th April.
“I’m delighted that Maximilian will be driving for us for third year and that Nikolaj is back on board,” says team boss Frank Aust. “They constitute the basis of a strong squad. After all the bad luck we had last year, we are determined to show that we really are competitive.” The Westphalians have been contesting the ADAC GT Masters since 2016, and celebrated their greatest success in 2017 when Kelvin van der Linde and Markus Pommer won at the Nürburgring.
In 2020, Aust will be counting on the efforts of two familiar figures from previous years: Maximilian Hackländer has been racing in the ADAC GT Masters since 2016 and for Frank Aust’s team since 2018: “I feel very much at home in the team. The atmosphere here is like one big happy family, so that was a strong reason for staying on a third year. Nikolaj and I intend to finish regularly in the Top 10.”
Team-mate Rogivue is also a known quantity. He is returning to the team after spending one year at BWT Mücke Motorsport. “I am very much looking forward to the new season”, says the Swiss ace. “My first year with the team was a good one, so we’ve been discussing a return in 2020 for some time now. I already know Maximilian Hackländer from when I was last here. He is fast and has improved even more since then. I get on very well with him, and I think we have the makings of a good partnership.”
Discussions are taking place with a number of drivers to fill the second cockpit.
