David Richards arrives to support Young Driver AMR: Aston Martin boss David Richards came to the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Nürburgring both to spectate and support the Aston Martin Young Driver AMR team. On Saturday, the ex-Formula 1 team boss was no doubt pleased to see Ferdinand Stuck lead the first half of the race in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, and then Young Driver AMR’s Kristian Poulsen secured a fourth win in the amateur class.
ADAC GT Masters commemorates the memory of Alfred Herberth: On Friday, a week before the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Nürburgring, Porsche team boss Alfred Herberth died in a motorbike accident aged 55. Herberth was the father of the Alfred and Robert Renauer twins and Team Principal at FROGREEN CO2 neutral. Many people at the Nürburgring wore special stickers bearing the tribute: “In memory of our ‘Fredl’ Herberth, a true Bavarian”.
ADAC Motorwelt winners get a look behind the scenes: A special look behind the scenes of the ADAC Masters Weekend was given to three ADAC members who won some ‘hands-on’ training at the Nürburgring weekend in a raffle organised by ADAC Motorwelt. The three lucky winners saw action as a mechanic with Young Driver AMR, as a grid girl and as an assistant with the kabel eins television crew.
‘Punchy’ support for Frentzen: Corvette driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen gets some powerful backing in Sunday’s second race. The ex-Formula 1 driver invited boxer Arthur Abraham, who is reigning WBO super middleweight boxing world champion, to come and enjoy the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Nürburgring.
ADAC GT Masters on the streets of Cologne: ADAC Westfalen, organisers of the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Nürburgring, drew attention to the race weekend in the Eifel with a special advertising campaign. In recent weeks, the official poster designed for this penultimate series of races of the 2012 ADAC Masters Weekend season has featured on trams in Cologne.
TV team barbecue party: kabel eins commentator Patrick Simon had a brilliant way of saying ‘thanks’ to everyone in his team, TV technicians and camera crew. Simon set up his barbecue on Saturday afternoon in front of the crew’s truck and provided beer and sausages to thank his colleagues for their support and professionalism.
