Hans-Werner Aufrecht guest at Sachsenring: ITR President Hans-Werner Aufrecht visited the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Sachsenring. Founder of AMG and HWA AG Aufrecht was the guest of ADAC Sport President Hermann Tomczyk. They followed the progress of Saturday's ADAC GT Masters race together. Aufrecht was accompanied by HWA executive Gerhard Ungar whose team developed the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
Volkswagen Motorsport Director Capito at Sachsenring: New director of Volkswagen Motorsport Jost Capito stopped by the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Sachsenring.
Max Neukirchner posts demonstration laps: German motorcycle world championship rider Max Neukirchner from Stollberg in Saxony was very happy to be visiting the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Sachsenring; the Moto2 rider took an electric-powered Tesla Roadster for a spin around the circuit.
A Bavarian in Saxony: Actor Wolfgang Fierek (TV: Ein Bayer auf Rügen) appeared as a guest at the Sachsenring. Fierek came with a good friend of his, former ADAC GT Masters driver Oliver Mayer, and presented the third place trophies at the ADAC GT Masters podium ceremony on Saturday.
Warm-up for ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix: Fans at the Sachsenring got a foretaste of what is to come when the ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix moves to the Nürburgring (13th–15th July). Former European truck champion Egon Allgäuer posted a few laps to show off the 'grunt' from his 1,200-horsepower racing truck. ADAC GT Masters and Formel ADAC drivers will also be racing that weekend.
Bob World Champion gets tips from Frentzen: Bobsleigh World Champion Manuel Machata travelled as a guest of Callaway Competition to the Sachsenring. Machata was keen to pick up some tips from former Formula 1 and DTM driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen since he will be contesting the ADAC Chevrolet Cup at the Sachsenring next weekend (June 16th).
Football fever at Sachsenring: As the European Football Championship got underway in Poland, football passion was very much in evidence even at the Sachsenring. At a 'press-viewing', plenty of media representatives got together on Saturday evening at ADAC Hospitality to witness the German Eleven's victory against Portugal and talk shop with Lars Ricken, who is a Champions League winner and has been capped many times for Germany. ADAC GT Masters teams and drivers watched the match along with other fans on a giant screen in Stand 6 at a public screening.
Urgent Departure: Maxime Martin, Kristian Poulsen and Christopher Nygaard will be leaving the Sachsenring straightaway on Sunday afternoon and hurrying off to France. The three ADAC GT Masters drivers will be contesting the Le Mans 24 Hours race next weekend. As in the ADAC GT Masters, Danish pair Poulsen and Nygaard will be co-driving an Aston Martin Vantage in the world’s most prestigious endurance race. Martin will be at the wheel of a Morgan-Nissan in the LMP2 class.
Best time with zero emission: Saturday saw Johannes Stuck secure the first fastest time for an all-electric car at the Sachsenring. The 2011 ADAC GT Masters runner-up did a 01:51.038 at the Sachsenring in a Tesla Roadster Sport. The Roadster Sport produces 290BHP and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds.
Former champion Tim Bergmeister back home: In early May, 2008 ADAC GT Masters champion Tim Bergmeister suffered major injury as a result of an accident whilst racing in Japan. The driver from Langenfeld is now home again and on the mend. Bergmeister: "I want to be back racing in two months time."
