22.12.2011 - ADAC GT Masters
YOKOHAMA is new tyre partner of ADAC GT Masters
The ADAC GT Masters will start into the 2012 season with YOKOHAMA as its
new tyre partner. The Japanese manufacturer of high-performance tyres will
be the exclusive supplier to the ADAC GT Masters, equipping the series’
super sports cars with its ADVAN A005 line of high-performance tyres as of
next year. ADAC and YOKOHAMA have agreed on a three-year partnership.
“We are delighted to be able to welcome YOKOHAMA as the ADAC GT
Masters’ new tyre partner,” says ADAC Sport President Hermann Tomczyk.
“YOKOHAMA, as a manufacturer of sporty high-performance tyres, and the
ADAC GT Masters are a perfect fit. The ADAC GT Masters has established
itself as the most popular GT racing series in Europe; together with our new
partner YOKOHAMA we will make the series even more attractive than before.
Through the three-year partnership with YOKOHAMA we are also giving our
participants the planning security they need with respect to tyres, which are a
highly decisive factor. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our
previous tyre partner, Michelin, for the outstanding cooperation over the past
five years.”
“Excitement, professionalism and authenticity are just three of the
characteristics that describe the ADAC GT Masters in YOKOHAMA’s view,”
says Rolf Kurz, Managing Director Marketing and Sales of YOKOHAMA,
commenting on the partnership with the ADAC GT Masters. “We are delighted
to be part of this successful concept as exclusive tyre partner from 2012 on
and to be able to actively support this series. The ADAC GT Masters will be an
important component of our international motorsport activities in future and a
central element of our national communications strategy.”
YOKOHAMA is Japan’s second-largest tyre manufacturer and has been firmly
established in international motorsport for years. Since 2006 the FIA World
Touring Car Championship (WTCC) has been relying on YOKOHAMA’s
ADVAN racing tyres as well. ADVAN Sport tyres from YOKOHAMA are used
as OEM equipment by car manufacturers, in the high-performance sector and
in motorsport.
In 2012, the ADAC GT Masters will again hold a total of 16 races on seven
ADAC Masters Weekends and as part of the ADAC Truck Grand Prix at the
Nürburgring. The eight events, each featuring two races, will be staged on all
permanent race tracks in Germany, on the Red Bull Ring in Austria and at
Zandvoort in the Netherlands, and be covered live on TV again.
