Klettwitz: Green was the dominant colour at the head of the field in the second ADAC GT Masters qualifying session at the Lausitzring Motorsport Festival. For the first time, pole-sitter Mirko Bortolotti (27, I) and Christian Engelhart (30, DEU) took the top two places on the front row of the Super Sports Car League for GRT Grasser Racing Team in their Lamborghini Huracán. Just one second covered a total of 17 vehicles in a close-fought race against the clock. SPORT1 will broadcast the fourth ADAC GT Masters race of the season live and in full at 1.00pm. The race can also be watched online as live stream at: sport1.de and adac.de/motorsport.
GRT Grasser Racing's good form at the Lausitzring was already pretty evident in the first race on Saturday with P3 for Bortolotti and his team-mate Ezequiel Perez Companc (22, RA). The two green Lamborghinis of the Austrian racing team were the ones to beat in qualifying for Sunday's race. Bortolotti secured his maiden pole position in the ADAC GT Masters with a best time of 1.21.533 minutes. Team-mate Engelhart in second place was only 0.180 seconds slower, which meant that for the first time, the front row of the grid belonged to Gottfried Grasser's team. Bortolotti: "It's never easy to get a free lap in here, but I did it. I'm very pleased. It's great too, that Christian took second place. What a brilliant result for the team! We're now really looking forward to the race."
P3 in the 20-minute session went to Christopher Haase (29, DEU, Montaplast by Land Motorsport). However, the Audi R8 bearing start number two has to serve a grid penalty following a collision in the first race and will drop ten places down the field. Audi drivers also secured the next three grid slots. Ex-Formula 1 driver Markus Winkelhock (36, DEU, BWT Mücke Motorsport) in P4 was a fraction faster than fellow Audi drivers, Christopher Mies (27,DEU, Montaplast by Land Motorsport) and Kelvin van der Linde (20, ZA, Aust Motorsport), who came home in P5 and P6 respectively.
