Porsche Carrera Cup to run alongside 2018 ADAC GT Masters

  • Single-make cup becomes an integral part of the ADAC GT Masters weekends
  • ADAC TCR Germany and ADAC Formula 4 also on the bill for 2018

Munich: The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will be staged within the framework of the ADAC GT Masters in 2018. Two rounds of Germany's fastest one-marque series will be contested on six of the seven Super Sports Car League weekends. The season starts at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of 13th - 15th April 2018.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland has made guest appearances at the ADAC GT Masters on several occasions in recent years. As of next season, Germany's oldest single-make cup (staged since 1990) will be an integral part of the ADAC GT Masters event platform and feature on the same bill for all of the German fixtures as well as those at the Red Bull Ring (AUT) and at Zandvoort (NL). Over the past few years, the Porsche Carrera Cup has regularly shown itself to be a springboard for rising talent; several drivers who later made a name for themselves in the ADAC GT Masters first rose to prominence in the series, for example Sebastian Asch, René Rast and Connor De Phillippi.

"We are very pleased that the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will run alongside the ADAC GT Masters this season," said ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss. "This will make the ADAC GT Masters even more attractive as an event. The Porsche Carrera Cup always provides the fans with the best of entertainment."

Oliver Köppen, Project Manager Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland: "The ADAC GT Masters offers an ideal platform for the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. We saw that once again in 2017 when we had two joint race weekends. So it's great that we're taking this collaboration even further in 2018. The calendar is very attractive, with its mix of challenging racetracks here in Germany and abroad. Our teams and drivers can look forward to some fascinating events."

The ADAC TCR Germany will also carry on as a support series to the ADAC GT Masters in 2018 and will be part of the programme on all seven weekends of the campaign. ADAC Formula 4 will also have a presence at the four race weekends in Germany and at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Another series sharing the limelight on four of the race weekends will be the Renault Clio Cup Central Europe, while the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup makes just one joint appearance, namely the grand finale at Hockenheim.
