Sven Barth and Maximilian Hackländer are the new driver pairing
Munich: RWT Racing will face a fresh challenge in 2017 after winning the Trophy standings of the ADAC GT Masters last year. The Super Sports Car League team have a new driver pairing and a new car in the shape of Sven Barth (36, DEU) & Maximilian Hackländer (26, DEU) and the Corvette C7. The new ADAC GT Masters season kicks off on the weekend of 28th - 30th April in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. SPORT1 will broadcast all races live and in full.
While Barth has raced for RWT Racing since the outfit first joined the ADAC GT Masters for the 2013 season, Hackländer is new to the team. He made his debut at the wheel of Callaway Competition’s Corvette C7 in last year’s final round of the season. Team principal Gerd Beisel: “I think we’ve made the right choice. Sven and Maximilian have the potential to produce one or two surprises.”
RWT Racing are switching to the latest GT3 generation of the US sports car built by Callaway Competition after three years with its predecessor, the Corvette Z06. Beisel: “I gradually came around to making the decision at the end of the 2016 season. It was an obvious step to take for us. We’ve worked with Callaway for a fair few years now. We owe a lot to Ernst Wöhr and Giovanni Ciccone.” The Corvette C7 debuted in the ADAC GT Masters in 2016, winning three races in its maiden season.
Sven Barth is looking forward to his new racing car: “We caused a bit of a stir with the Corvette Z06 several times in the last three years, and we obviously intend to build on that success. Much more will be possible with the new car.”
