- Experience American football in the Fan Zone at the Sachsenring
- Legendary Tour of the New England Patriots visits MotoGP at the Sachsenring
Hohenstein-Ernstthal. American football meets Motorcycle Grand Prix: This weekend (10th to 12th July), one of the most successful teams in the National Football League (NFL) will use the LIQUI MOLY Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany to showcase itself at the Sachsenring. As part of their "Legendary Tour", the New England Patriots are bringing a branded container to the Fan Zone, offering visitors to the Grand Prix the opportunity to experience the history and atmosphere of one of the best-known teams in American football up close and personal.
The cooperation between the Patriots and the Motorcycle Grand Prix brings together two international sporting brands, which are renowned for major live events, emotional and loyal fans, and the ultimate in peak performance. The Sachsenring is an ideal platform, on which to showcase all of that: in recent years, the German round of the MotoGP championship has established itself as one of the biggest individual sporting events in the country, and is also renowned for its particularly passionate fan culture. This combination is the perfect match, and makes it a great stage, on which to put other sports in the spotlight. Other joint activities between the Patriots and the Motorcycle Grand Prix are planned in the future.
On 15th November, the Patriots will take on the Detroit Lions in Munich, in what will be their second regular season match on German soil. The campaign at the Sachsenring will give football fans and those interested the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of the Patriots ahead of this event.
One special highlight of the tour is a piece of artificial turf from the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. When the pitch was re-laid after last season's final playoff match, in preparation for the FIFA World Cup, part of it was brought to Germany. Visitors to the Fan Zone can step on the "holy turf" whilst playing the popular US game cornhole – on the same patch of grass, on which Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and his team once played.
"The fact that the Patriots are playing in Germany again is awesome. The Legendary Tour will get all fans, and those who perhaps wish to be fans, in the mood for the match. And when else do you get the opportunity to play on the Gillette Stadium turf?" says German Patriots legend Sebastian Vollmer.
The Patriots container brings with it an entertaining selection of activities for visitors to partake in. Fans can test their throwing skills in the Quarterback Challenge, while the Patriots photo booth offers souvenir photos in the team look. Furthermore, mascot Pat Patriot will be on hand to sign autographs, pose for photos and give the NFL feel that authentic game day atmosphere at the heart of the Sachsenring.
