Paddock Radar from the MotoGP weekend at the Sachsenring

  • World champions Friedrich and Taubitz enjoy German round of the world championship
  • Minister of State Schenderlein and Minister President Kretschmer visit the Sachsenring
  • Leipzig coach Werner attends MotoGP for first time

Important visitors from the world of politics
Guests at the 2025 Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany included Dr. Christiane Schenderlein, the Minister of State for Sport and Volunteering. The politician congratulated Grand Prix winner Marc Márquez on the podium and presented the eight-time world champion with his trophy. Michael Kretschmer also visited the biggest individual sporting event in Germany. The Minister President of the Free State of Saxony watched the MotoGP race live, presented the trophy to the winner of the Moto2 race Deniz Öncü, and thanked the many volunteers for their fantastic efforts. Prof. Constanze Geiert (Saxony’s Minister of State for Justice) attended the Moto3 podium ceremony, at which she congratulated winner David Muñoz.

Two world champions impressed by the Sachsenring
Two esteemed world champions visited Hohenstein-Ernstthal on Sunday: bobsledder Francesco Friedrich enjoyed and was impressed by the MotoGP show. “I had only experienced the Sachsenring once before, at an ADAC GT Masters event. The huge crowds here for MotoGP are crazily loud, which is great fun,” said the record world champion from Pirna, adding with a grin: “I would also like to race in front of that many spectators some time.” Luger Julia Taubitz not only enjoyed the impressive atmosphere around the Sachsenring, but also got to wave the chequered flag in the Moto3 race. “I have been riding a motorcycle for five years and am a big fan. MotoGP at the Sachsenring is really enthralling. To wave the chequered flag was an incredible feeling,” said the athlete from Saxony.

MotoGP first for Leipzig coach Werner
As the new coach of Bundesliga football team RB Leipzig, Ole Werner has only lived in Saxony for a few days – and promptly enjoyed a real highlight at the weekend. The 37-year-old was among the guests of Red Bull and watched the German Grand Prix at the circuit.

Double Márquez milestone
The two Márquez brothers, Marc and Álex, both reached a milestone at the Sachsenring. Eight-time world champion Marc was making his 200th appearance in MotoGP at the Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany. The Spaniard claimed his 69th MotoGP race win in Saxony, passing MotoGP legend Giacomo Agostini in the process. For Álex Márquez, who recovered from an injured hand just in time for the German round of the world championship, this was start number 100 in the MotoGP class.

MotoGP fans run for a good cause
In keeping with tradition, the BplusL Charity Run opened the Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany on Wednesday evening, and it was a great success again this year. All tickets for the charity run at the Sachsenring sold out extremely quickly. As a result, the run raised € 24,000, which will be donated to four different beneficiaries.

German youngster waves chequered flag in MotoGP sprint
Ole Säuberlich enjoyed a real highlight at the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring: the 12-year-old had the honour of waving home Saturday’s race winner Marc Márquez with the chequered flag. “That was a magical moment. I enjoyed every second. It was really cool to wave home my idol as the race winner,” said Säuberlich. The youngster was not only crowned MiniGP champion last season, but also won the ADAC Mini Bike Cup.

Trophies from Saxony
The winners’ trophies at the Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany were real eye-catchers. In keeping with tradition, the trophies were produced by Metallbau Maltitz from the Saxon town of Gersdorf. Metallbau Maltitz has been making the trophies for the MotoGP race weekend in Germany for the past 17 years.

Kart Hall: A fan stronghold
The rider presentation in the Kart Hall was one of the highlights of the event programme. Fans came in their droves to cheer on their heroes. Among those from the top MotoGP class to enjoy a walkabout were Fabio Di Giannantonio, Álex Márquez, Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo. The crew from ServusTV and DF1, with Eve Scheer, Stefan Bradl, Alex Hofmann and Christian Brugger, were also cheered loudly.

Showdown in electric karts
Even before the big race weekend, the action had already begun at the Arena E kart track in Mülsen: Moto2 riders Ivan Ortolá and Eric Fernandez took to the track in electric two-seater karts for a Spanish TV spot for television station DAZN. The duo were embroiled in some exciting battles with Niels Tröger, the kart world champion from 2021 and 2023 and current ADAC GT4 Germany driver.

Tickets available for 2026
No sooner had the German Grand Prix ended, than tickets went on sale for the German MotoGP round in 2026. The pinnacle of motorcycle racing will be back at the Sachsenring from 10th to 12th July next year. Tickets start at € 39 and are available through all the usual channels: in the online ticket shop at adac.de/motogp, by phone on 03723/8099111, and by E-mail to info@sachsenring-event.de.
