- Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio produces fastest lap of the day
- Italian Celestino Vietti shines in Moto2
- German team Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP makes statement in Moto3
Hohenstein-Ernstthal. MotoGP is faster than ever before at the 2025 Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany. As early as Friday’s practice, new lap records were set in all three world championship classes at the Sachsenring. In the top category, MotoGP, it was Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio who set the fastest time of the day, stopping the clock at 1:19.071 minutes. “That was a really good lap. I am pleased that we were really fast on both sets of tyres, with regard to both race pace and qualifying speed. It is great to start the weekend at the Sachsenring this way,” said Di Giannantonio after his impressive performance.
The 26-year-old from the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team was 0.337 seconds faster than Spaniard Álex Márquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), who was immediately back competing at the top of the timings sheet after recovering from the hand injury he suffered in Assen. Third place went to Marc Márquez, the long-time “King of the Sachsenring”. The Ducati factory rider ended practice 0.390 seconds slower than his fellow Ducati rider, but the eight-time world champion believes there is still plenty more to come. “I tried a lot of things with the tyres, in order to find the optimal set-up. It was less about achieving a fast qualifying lap, and more about getting the right tyre pressure and ideal temperature,” explained the MotoGP championship leader after Friday’s practice.
Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP among front-runners in Moto2 and Moto3
Italian Celestino Vietti was the top rider in the afternoon practice session in Moto2. The 23-year-old from the Folladore SpeedRS Team took just 1:22.329 minutes for his lap of the iconic Sachsenring. Behind him were the duo from German team Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP from Memmingen: Australian Senna Agius was second, with world championship leader Manuel González from Spain third fastest.
The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP team had the fastest rider in the Moto3 class among its ranks: David Muñoz clocked the fastest time of 1:24.767 minutes. That made the Spaniard the only driver in the smallest category to dip below 1:25 minutes on Friday. Second place went to his compatriot David Almansa (Leopard Racing), ahead of Britain’s Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power).
