Hohenstein-Ernstthal. A local favourite will line up in the top MotoGP class when the new Sachsenring hosts the LIQUI MOLY Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany for the 25th time: 29-year-old Jonas Folger from Mühldorf am Inn will take his place on the KTM RC16 for the GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 team in front of his home crowd this weekend.
KTM test rider has already stood in for regular rider Pol Espargaró at the past four Grand Prix weekends in Austin, Jerez, Le Mans and Mugello. The 32-year-old Spaniard is still recovering from breaking several bones in a big crash in practice at the opening weekend in Portimão.
Folger’s best result of the four race weekends as reserve rider was a twelfth place at the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin. He finished 13th and picked up more points in the French race in Le Mans. The German currently lies 21st in the overall standings with seven points.
