01.08.2016 - ADAC Rallye Deutschland

Large line-up in the 2016 ADAC Rallye Deutschland

  • 90 entrants at the German FIA WRC event
  • 108 vehicles starting in the Special Stages in and around Trier
  • 19 German drivers looking forward to be cheered on by the fans in their home rally
  • 18 ADAC Opel Rallye Cup cockpit crews

Munich/Trier, 1 August 2016 – A look at the entries list of the 2016 ADAC Rallye Deutschland will make fans realise: there are an impressive line-up and a maximum of rally action in store for them. No fewer than 108 cockpit crews, including 90 WRC entrants, will tackle the Special Stages of the German WRC event. Exceptional rally action is guaranteed for all spectators.

When the ADAC Rallye Deutschland kicks off on Thursday, 18 August, 19:30 hours with the supporting programme of the show start against the backdrop of the historic Porta Nigra, a large line-up will be waiting for the fans. At 20:00 hours, the 108 cockpit crews will present themselves and their vehicles to the large audience in the historic centre of Trier. Entry to the show start is free. A total of 46 entrants to the WRC, WRC 2 and WRC 3 categories, 44 independent entrants and 48 ADAC Opel Rallye Cup participants will make the ADAC Rallye Deutschland a spectacular event which no fan should miss.

The one and only goal of World Champion Sébastien Ogier and the other WRC stars is to score as many WRC points as possible. 12 WRC drivers and their co-drivers – from the French World Champion to 2014 winner Thierry Neuville to rising star Hayden Padden – will be fighting for every tenth of a second at the Special Stages in the Trier region in the premiership of rally racing.

However, also the WRC 2 and WRC 3 entrants will provide top-level rally racing. In the WRC 2, the second highest category, a total of 23 crews will be starting, including ADAC sport foundation grantee Fabian Kreim, the best German driver in 2015. 12 cockpit crews have entered the WRC 3. 44 independent drivers complete the list of WRC entrants.

19 of the 90 WRC entrants are German. Cheered on by the many local fans along the Special Stages, they are determined to perform well in their home rally. The ADAC Rallye Deutschland is the season’s highlight also for Eve Wallenwein who with her co-driver Julia Götzl forms the only all-female pilot crew competing in the event.

For Henk Vossen, too, the ADAC Rallye Deutschland is a very special event: his 40th start in the ADAC Rallye Deutschland and/or Hunsrück rally makes 2016 an anniversary year for this Dutch driver.

Two ADAC Opel Rallye Cup rounds at the ADAC Rallye Deutschland

Like last year, two rounds in the 2016 ADAC Opel Rallye Cup will be run at the ADAC Rallye Deutschland. 18 cockpit crews will start in the season’s highlight of Europe’s biggest single-brand rally cup, using this prime international showcase to present themselves to the audience. Again, fans can rest assured: there will be lots of top-level rally racing.
