The ADAC Rallye Deutschland Sunday: New Power Stage and celebrating winners at the Porta Nigra

  • The ADAC Rallye Deutschland day by day: the Sunday highlights
  • Special Stage Sauertal to conclude the rally as the new Power Stage
  • Podium ceremony in the historic centre of Trier as crowning finale

Munich/Trier, 23 July 2016 – Of the four spectacular days of competition in the ADAC Rallye Deutschland, Sunday, 21 August, will show who is who in the standings. Often enough, the final day has reversed the standings in a rally completely. The German FIA WRC event is no exception: everything is possible until the last car is past the Finish line. The leading drivers must fully concentrate once more to catch those precious additional WRC points in the Power Stage. Having said this, both of the final Special Stages, each run twice, promise maximum excitement. For the teams, the final day starts very early again. After a 15-minute morning service call, the first car will be out of the Service Park Trier at 6:27 hours. In the afternoon the winner will have his well-deserved champagne shower at the Porta Nigra.

SS 15 + 17: Dhrontal
This Special Stage in the steep vineyards northeast of Trier is notorious for its many hairpin bends. Along the 14.79km of the stage, there are two spectator areas, one of which, the Galeria Dhron, is the absolute hot spot of the entire WRC according to the real insiders. It offers the fans a panoramic top-down view of nine uphill hairpin corners which demand maximum precision. To see this uphill chase you have to get up early as well. The first pass through the SS Dhrontal will start at 7:13 hours, the second at 9:47 hours.

SS 16 + 18: Sauertal
For the first time, the Sauertal Special Stage will be the setting of the spectacular showdown in this rally. In its new role, the stage that used to be on the Friday itinerary has now moved to Sunday. It will be run twice: once in the morning at 8:42 hours and once again at 12:08 hours as the Power Stage. The stage is located in the southern foothills of the Eiffel hill country. Made up of alternating uphills and downhills, it runs for 14.84km along the Luxembourg border. From the Kersch spectator area, the public will be able to follow the rally cars into the finish line on a length of over one kilometre. As the Power Stage, it brings an extra three points to the fastest team, two to the second and one to the third. Since the participants start into the Power Stage in the reverse order of the current WRC standings, the extra points as well as the whole rally are often settled only when the last driver crosses the Finish line. The action in the Power Stage will be broadcast live on Sport1+ TV starting 12:00 hours.

Podium ceremony in Trier
All ends where everything started – at the famous old Black Gate. The historic Roman city gate where the ADAC Rallye Deutschland ceremonial start is held on Thursday, will also provide the backdrop for the podium ceremony on Sunday, between 14:00 and 16:00 hours. The best three crews in the German WRC rally will receive the ovations of their fans. For the fans it may be the last occasion to hunt for some winner autographs. Admission will be free.
