Munich. The countdown is on to the ADAC Rallye Deutschland: Between 22 and 25 August, the best WRC drivers will pit their skills in the Saarland and neighbouring regions for the German event of the 2019 FIA World Rally Championship. Apart from counting the days until the 4-day motor sport highlight, there are also plenty of other figures offering interesting insights and background knowledge on the German WRC event. Here are some examples:

61,040,000 viewers worldwide followed the 2018 ADAC Rallye Deutschland on TV. 65 TV stations reported on the German WRC event, racking up a total broadcast time of over 1,120 hours. Footage of this year's event will go out again to 150 countries from the Saarland and neighbouring regions. The WRC's own streaming platform WRCplus.com will broadcast more than 15 hours live.

1,228,230 metres is the total length of the itinerary at this year's ADAC Rallye Deutschland. The 19 Special Stages have a combined length of 344,040 metres. All the road sections between the Stages and the Service Park add up to 884,190 metres.

226,000 visitors from Germany, other European countries and the rest of the world came to see the ADAC Rallye Deutschland last year. With the large crowds it attracts during rally week, the German WRC rally has a positive impact on the economy and tourism in the region.

19,000 metres of wires and cables are necessary for the TV production covering the ADAC Rallye Deutschland. 70 cameras will deliver action footage from all perspectives. The full TV equipment has a combined weight exceeding 17 tons and travels to the rally region in over 100 flight cases.

More than 15,000 hp is the combined output of the participating vehicles starting at the 2019 ADAC Rallye Deutschland. The rally Saturday (24 August) in St Wendel will be a good opportunity to see the rally cars up close. In the morning, there will be a regrouping in the Saarland town of motor sport enthusiasts. An attractive supporting event is planned to frame the rally crews' stopover.

3,000 volunteer helpers will be on duty, including approx. 2,000 marshals ensuring safety along the track. They come from some 70 ADAC local and motor sport clubs. All 18 ADAC regional clubs contribute to the event's success. This makes the ADAC Rallye Deutschland the ADAC's greatest collaborative motor sport accomplishment.

411 km of tape will be unrolled by the volunteers to cordon off the track of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland. The total length of the cordoned off zones will be 256km. ADAC is gradually switching to eco-friendly materials in the setup of Special Stages and spectator areas. In 2019, recyclable fencing will be used for half of the itinerary.

74 years young, Henk Vossen from the Netherlands is not only the German WRC event's most seasoned participant, but also one of its most loyal entrants. This year he will compete in his 23rd ADAC Rallye Deutschland. That does not mean Vossen's achieved the record, though - which stands at 31.

Nearly 50 spectator areas have been designated at the 2019 ADAC Rallye Deutschland. Affording prime viewing and a maximum of security, they are accessible via a traffic guidance system leading spectators to the desired destination within a radius of approx. 30km around the Special Stage. Each spectator area has at least one designated parking area.

37 years of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland will be celebrated this year. In 1982, its debut year, the rally was staged in Frankfurt/Main. The participants were almost exclusively from Germany, and the event comprised an incredible 45 Special Stages - including two laps on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

31 starts at the ADAC Rallye Deutschland - this baffling mark will be reached by 60-year-old Herrmann Gassner Senior this year. The German rally driver has competed in all editions of the event since 1988 - including all events with WRC status since 2002, of course. An eternal record!

30 minutes before the first rally car appears, no more persons will be allowed on the track for safety reasons. Several advance and organisation vehicles will then sweep the Special Stage at high speed for the final safety checks.

19 Special Stages will challenge the drivers before the champion and runners up in the 2019 ADAC Rallye Deutschland step onto the podium in the Service Park at Bostalsee on Sunday (25 August), 14:00 hours. The St. Wendeler Land SS right after the start is new on the itinerary, and the Dhrontal SS is a new Power Stage at this year's German WRC event.

5 champions have made their debut at the ADAC Rallye Deutschland since it became a WRC event in 2002. This year will see four of them at the start: Sébastien Ogier (2011, 2015-2016), Dani Sordo (2013), Thierry Neuville (2014), and Ott Tänak (2017-2018). Will a new name be added to the ADAC Rallye Deutschland champions' list in 2019?

In late 2018, the FIA awarded 3 stars and the Excellence attribute to the environmental concept of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland. Hence, the German WRC event now holds the highest certification within the FIA Environmental Accreditation Framework. The award underscores the great value which the ADAC Rallye Deutschland attaches to sustainability and environmental protection.

€0 is the price for admission to the Service Park. The 150,000 square metre premises are set idyllically on the lakeshore of Bostalsee. This year, the Service Park will be not only the central hub of the rally, but it will also debut as the scene of the official opening ceremony on Thursday (22 August). The podium ceremony will also take place there on Sunday (25 August).

ADAC members pay €65 for a pre-sale rally pass (€70 for non-members). The rally pass package is available at an extra €5 and, among other things, includes the pass and the official rally magazine. During the ADAC Rallye Deutschland, the regular price for a rally pass will be €80 at all on-site sales points. Day passes (for Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday) are available exclusively on pre-sale and start at €25.
