This year, the ADAC Rallye Deutschland celebrates its 10th anniversary as the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) German tour. To make the WRC event scheduled for 23 to 26 August in the greater Trier area ever more attractive and viewer-friendly in this special year, the hosts have thought up numerous innovations.
What changes for the drivers:
- All special stages (except for the CIRCUS MAXIMUS Power Stage) were modified by inte-grating and adding new stage sections. There will be two completely new special stages. Quite a challenge for the crews who have to learn the itinerary all over again.
- The overall number of stages was reduced to 15 and in exchange the mileage in the remain-ing stages was significantly increased.
- Rally Sunday will be even more exciting. Only one very long 31km Special Stage has to be covered – albeit twice – before the final Circus Maximus Power Stage around the Porta Ni-gra gate. But the teams will not have another service stop. Meaning that the drivers have to be extra careful not to damage their cars and find just the right balance between fast stage times and safety.
What changes for the spectators:
- Numerous new and attractive spectator areas have been created along the revamped spe-cial stages.
- The new itinerary also affords even more parking facilities and even shorter walks from parking to the spectator areas.
- The new spectator areas and stage passages allow viewers even more time to the rally cars.
- The 2012 Shakedown is all new. At a central point of the stage, a large parking area was set up on a hilltop allowing the fans to reach various spectator areas and cover almost all of the 5km Shakedown.
- The Arena Panzerplatte special stage was redesigned to include new passages where spectators can watch the cars longer than ever before.
ADAC Rallye Deutschland Clerk of the Course Armin Kohl is thrilled about all the innovations: “I am so glad for all our rally fans that we were able to find solutions to make the ADAC Rallye Deutschland ever more exciting and better. Based on our proven itinerary and organisation concept we laid excellent groundwork to offer the fans, drivers and officials the sort of great event they have come to appreciate in the years before.”
