Rally Action of the Finest at the 2012 ADAC Rallye Deutschland
Excitement rises in anticipation of this top-rated motor sport event

Count the days to the start of the 2012 ADAC Rallye Deutschland! Between 23 and 26 August 2012 the greater Trier region will be the Mecca of the rally-racing world. In 2012, this major event is the German tour of the WRC for the 10th time. It is expected to attract some 200,000 spectators to the ancient roman city of Trier and its region.

The spectators can look forward to a starter field of 71 vehicles. The 2012 ADAC Rallye Deutschland comes with a good number of innovations: changes to the itinerary and longer Special Stages will be new challenges for the drivers and make things more exciting to watch. Of the 62 spectator points 27 are all new. They will offer great views and new perspectives to the spectators.

The many highlights of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland include the Show Start on Thursday (23 August. 20:00hrs) at the ancient Porta Nigra gate in Trier. In the night-time, this is a magnificent backdrop. The same location will see the finish of the German WRC rally on Sunday (26 August 2012, from 13:21hrs) in the legendary “Circus Maximus”. This Power Stage set in the middle of the old town of Trier is a very special setting for the drivers and their WRC cars. After the Power Stage, the Porta Nigra will also host the podium ceremony.

The 2012 ADAC Rallye Deutschland consists of 15 Special Stages covering some 370 kilome-tres to be raced as fast as man and car can go. The switchbacks in the steep vineyards of the Mosel valley and the wild chases across the famous “Panzerplatte” on the Baumholder military reserve will again be part of the show.

Tickets

The last spectator passes in the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories will continue to be available at €89.00, €69.00 und €59.00 respectively (€5.00 discount for ADAC members) until 17 August at http://shop.rallye-deutschland.de/. Passes are also available over the ticket hotline at 01805-960 960 (14 cents/minute from the German landline network; calls from mobile networks are clearly more expensive). Silver and Bronze passes are also available on site, at one of the ten sign-posted info points and at the Shakedown. Tickets granting access to single Special Stages only are also available on-site at €15.00 per Special Stage. There and at the info points, the fans will also find the 100 page rally magazine with the schedule, exclusive stories, spectator tips and maps for €5.00.

Accommodation

The Trier Tourist Information (phone: +49 (0)651-97808-16 or -14, www.trier-info.de) has accommodation listings for the whole region. On the www.adac-rallye-deutschland.de website, ADAC has listings of camping and motor home sites.

Rally up close and personal at the Service Park

Dropping by at the Service Park on the Trier trade fair grounds is worthwhile for the fans. Nowhere else will they get a better chance to get close to the drivers or watch them and their crews at work or get autographs. The “Messepark” located to the south-west of downtown Trier is also the location for the fan shops, the info point, food and refreshments and sanitary facilities, Equipped with a video screen, the stage in the middle of the Service Park will host interviews and the nightly press conferences.

Attractive rally supporting events

The 2012 ADAC Rallye Deutschland will host two events in the national German championship “Deutsche Rallye-Meisterschaft” (DRM). The national rally drivers (DRM) will seize the opportunity of the star-studded international event to perform to a larger audience on Friday and Satur-day (24 and 25 August 2012).

Those who love historic rally cars will enjoy the “Histo Rally”. The historic vehicles will perform after the DRM events on Friday (24 August 2012) and Saturday (25 August 2012) and after the WRC event on Sunday (26 August 2012), when they will drive the morning sections of the Mittelmosel, Moselland, Grafschaft, Stein & Wein, Peterberg and Arena Panzerplatte Special Stages. On Sunday morning (starting around 10:23hrs), during the regrouping at the “Eurostrand Leiwen” (open air pool), enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view the gorgeously restored historic cars up close. They will be seen racing again in the afternoon at the Circus Maximus in Trier.
