The ADAC Rallye Deutschland Thursday: spectacular Shakedown and ceremonial start

Munich/Trier, 20 July 2016 – The ADAC Rallye Deutschland. Four days of spectacular motor sport in the greater Trier region. A different highlight scheduled each day. Dropping by at the German FIA World Rally Championship rally is worthwhile even a day before World Champion Sébastien Ogier and the other star WRC drivers start for their battle against the clock. On Thursday, 18 August, the attractive Konz Shakedown and the official Show-Start in Trier are two early highlights in the 4-day rally event.

Konz Shakedown

A “rally before the rally”, the Konz Shakedown is certain to wet the fans’ appetite for the next three days. The obligatory test drives are a good opportunity to watch all the participants and their WRC cars at leisure. The WRC crews will pass several times through the 4.55km stage between Konz and Kommlingen. The itinerary is made up of typical ADAC Rallye Deutschland passages: from narrow winding service roads in the vineyards to ultra-fast asphalt roads. All four spectator areas at the Shakedown are in close vicinity, so that spectators can get from one to the other without using their cars. €20 Shakedown tickets will be available on site. Admission for holders of rally passes is free. During the main arrival period, pass holders also benefit from a fast check-in lane to the spectator areas.

Show Start in Trier

The other Thursday highlight, a visit to the old town of Trier, is a must on any rally enthusiast’s calendar. Even before the ceremonial start begins, the main market square of the city on the Mosel will be a visitor magnet. Between 19:30 and 20:00 hours, the elite of the WRC drivers will gather for an autograph signing session. Another opportunity for the fans to get up close to the WRC stars and their cars. Then the action will move to Simeonsplatz. Right in front of the historical Porta Nigra gate, the rally participants will roll across the show start podium in the reverse order of their WRC standings starting at 20:15 hours. After being presented to the spectators they will drive through the cordon of enthusiastic fans against the backdrop of the festively illuminated Roman gate. The programme will also feature live interviews, show acts, video trailers and live DJ entertainment. Admission to the autograph signing session and the ceremonial start is free.

Just like the planning process, the pre-sale of passes to the ADAC Rallye Deutschland is in full swing. In addition to the four-day rally passes, fans can now also buy day passes for Friday, Saturday or Sunday in pre-sale. On the day printed on the pass, passholders get access to all spectator areas along each Special Stage and the Trier Service Park. In pre-sale, rally passes for the 2016 ADAC Rallye Deutschland come at a discount and in attractive packages, for the first time including the official rally programme brochure (in German only, with directions, safety instructions etc. in English and French). In pre-sale, a four-day rally pass costs €70 (€65 for ADAC members). The package including the programme brochure is more attractively priced than in past years. Pre-ordered rally passes are also a better bargain than those bought at the on-site ticket offices, where the regular four-day pass will be €80 (no programme brochure and no discount for ADAC members).
